Andrew McCarthy’s feature-length documentary on The Brat Pack is coming to Hulu.
A member of the beloved ’80s collective that featured Emilio Estevez, Demi Moore, Ally Sheedy, Judd Nelson, Rob Lowe, Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall, The Brat Pack had a winning run in the middle of the decade with films like The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles and St. Elmo’s Fire.
The group was christened by New York writer David Blum in his 1985 article “Hollywood’s Brat Pack” and though it caught on culturally, the actors didn’t love the label and the polarizing piece and its uneven depictions ended up breaking the group apart.
In a statement McCarthy wrote: “The Brat Pack has cast a long shadow over my life and career. After all these years, I was curious to see how it had affected my fellow Brat Pack members. What I found was surprising — and liberating.”
Titled Brats, the documentary will feature interviews with Lowe, Sheedy, Moore and Estevez along with Lea Thompson, Timothy Hutton and Jon Cryer.
